Clients will often contact me in a frenzy when they feel as if their diets are completely out of control. Sometimes people feel out of control because they have been busy; or stressed or even depressed but the key is to stand up and be prepared to take control again. So, if your diet is feeling a little out of control at the moment, here are the easiest steps you can take from today to get back in control, immediately!
1. Do something
Whether it is going shopping for fresh, healthy food, clearing out the cupboards or going for a walk, the best thing you can do when you feel like you are out of control is to do something positive. We spend much time in thought, regret and rumination when we need to do, keep moving and take active steps if we really want to move forward.
2. Set a goal
You may want to finish a running event, lose 5 kg by Spring or exercise every day for 30 days, having a clear, documented goal helps to keep you focused and motivated as you actively work towards something. Write your goal down; share it with others and review it regularly for maximal impact.
3. Create positivity
The greater the number of positive emotions we experience, the easier it is for our brains to remain open and action focused. Buy yourself some flowers; make a vision board, brainstorm new goals and ideas and actively do one thing each day that makes you feel good to foster motivation in your day to day life
4. Make your environment conducive to health and well-being
Take time out to cook a few healthy meals, do a big grocery shop, book in a gym class, use any extra time to make a life in which it is easy to make healthy lifestyle choices
5. Find a new program
Sometimes we all need a little inspiration whether it is a new gym class, cooking program or an online weight loss program such as – Shape Me, the 30 day plan (www.shapeme.com.au) to offer you new ideas, motivation and incentives to get back on track with your health and fitness goals. Come Spring you will be glad that you did.
