An apple a day… as they say, but what about pears? Pears are a good source of fibre and are low in energy, making them a great sweet snack and lunchbox filler for the kids. Particularly during Winter times when they are so readily available.

The increasing number of pear varieties available in the fruit section means that there is a pear for every occasion; the traditional brown making a sweet, soft snack, and the red and green varieties a perfect addition to salad and even soups. But, if you really cannot think of swapping your favourite apple for a pear, try a nashi pear. Again sweeter than the average pear, a nashi is also packed full of nutrition and is a great option to keep in your handbag for a nutritious snack on the run.
